G.J. GARDNER HOMES PUTS SPRING IN CARLEE’S STEP – Builder Supports Warwick Paralympian’s Sporting Quest
Queensland home builder G.J. Gardner Homes has put the international sporting dreams of Warwick Paralympian Carlee Beattie firmly on track with a generous corporate sponsorship deal. The funds will support Carlee’s training, travel and competition at the upcoming World Championships in New Zealand in 2011 and London Paralympics in 2012. Her full sponsorship package from G.J. Gardner Homes is worth over $16,000.
Carlee, 27, of Warwick is an amputee sprinter and long jumper who competed at the Beijing Paralympics in 2008, reaching the 100m and 200m semi-finals.
She is the current Australian national record holder and number one ranked in the world for her long jump division.
Born and bred in Warwick, Carlee has secured the invaluable sponsorship through her mother Jeanette, a salesperson with G.J. Gardner Homes in Warwick.
Jeanette said she was determined to secure some financial support for Carlee after seeing what she went through in the lead up to Beijing Paralympics.
“Carlee worked so hard at fundraising, working at her job and training before Beijing that she became very unwell and stressed,” Jeanette said.
“I was very worried about this happening again in her new goals to get to New Zealand and London that I just had to do something to help her.”
Jeanette approached Murray and Sandreine Kahler, the master franchisees of G.J. Gardner Homes in Queensland, with her request. She put together a sponsorship proposal and incredibly Murray and Sandreine said they would donate the entire $16,000 amount needed.
“Murray and Sandreine are very easy to approach and G.J. Gardner Homes is such a family friendly and supportive company,” Jeanette said.
“I am just overwhelmed and can’t thank them enough. Carlee is an amazing sportsperson and has incredible determination and this sponsorship is a huge boost to her international ambitions.”
Murray Kahler of G.J. Gardner Homes said: “We are very proud to support an athlete of Carlee’s ability and popularity and to continue our support of the Toowoomba and Warwick regions.”
Jeanette and her family have lived in Warwick for 25 years and Carlee grew up and went to school there.
Carlee now trains in Brisbane and is studying health science. As well as her sporting goals, she has her sights set on a future career in sports nutrition.
Jeanette has been involved with the new G.J. Gardner Warwick office since it opened early last year. The office is committed to using and promoting local trades and services and is a proud sponsor of the Warwick Cowboys rugby league team and Morgan Park Raceway.
