Movember is back and hairier than ever with Mo Bros and Mo Sistas worldwide joining the Movember Foundation’s movement for men’s health, pledging to champion the Mo in 2016 to stop men dying too young.
Hairiness aside, the money raised will be used to fund social and health initiatives that aim to reduce the number of men affected by testicular cancer, prostate cancer and mental health issues.
Enormous Mega Mo’s — hairy, and three meters wide — will be hung in over 120 locations nationwide to draw attention to the Movember movement, acting as a conversation starter for men’s health issues – thanks to the support of G. J. Gardner Homes.
Charlotte Webb, Director of the Movember Foundation for Australia and New Zealand, said men’s health was in crisis with an alarming number of men dying young.
“The rate of men diagnosed with testicular cancer has doubled in the last 50 years; 18,138 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed this year; and on average five men a day take their life through suicide — we can’t afford to stay silent,” Ms Webb said.
“By 2030 we want half as many men dying from prostate and testicular cancer, and a quarter fewer men dying from suicide.
“We’re taking action and are amplifying the message through organisations nationwide that have joined the fight,” Ms Webb said.

“We’re taking it one step further and hanging enormous Mega Mo’s on our office buildings, display homes and new build homes nationwide to spread Movember’s message and help stop men dying too young.
“The Movember Foundation’s mission is year-round, and we’re supporting it by implementing on-going health education programs, commencing regular exercise regimes and creating an educated and open workplace in each franchise,” Mr Wallis said.
Movember will see Mo Bros grow their Mo’s, Mo Sistas showing off their faux-Mo’s, and get people up and Mo-ving to spread the word, raise some dough, and stop men dying too young.
